Abstract
Introduction-Intra-articular fractures around ankle joint are a commonly encountered entity in the lower extremity. In olden days these fractures ended up in permanent disability. This case series involves comparing functional outcome analysis of posterior plating & lateral plating for lateral malleolus fractures of ankle. To compare and analyze the functional outcome of posterior plating and lateral plating of lateral malleolusAim- fractures of ankle and to evaluate the bene?ts and shortcomings of both these procedures. Case Series of 20 patients withMaterials And Methods- lateral malleolus fractures fractures treated at Navodaya Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. Study included 11 Male and 9 Female with a mean follow up of 12 months. All patients were treated with open reduction with plating technique. All 20 patients were operatedProcedure- in Navodaya Medical College and hospital and were operated under spinal anaesthesia. With the short term follow up of our study, weConclusion- conclude that Posterior plating technique for lateral malleolus fractures of ankle allows better implant placement, good wound healing and a better functional outcome in comparison to the Lateral plating technique.
