N. V.; Jayanthi, P.Introduction: Epidemiological data related to maternal mortality is valuable in each setup to design interventional programs to reduce the ratio favorably. This study was done to evaluate the maternal mortality rate in our hospital GGH GUNTUR from January 2020 to December 2021, to assess the epidemiological aspects and causes of maternal mortality, and to suggest recommendations for improvement. Objectives: 1. To estimate the maternal mortality rate in GGH Guntur 2. To identify the causes associated with maternal mortality 3. To identify epidemiological risk factors for maternal mortality 4. To recommend ideas for reducing MMR to prevent maternal deaths. Methods: This is a 2-year retrospective study conducted in our hospital, GGH Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. All data presented were collected from hospital records and the causes were assessed, some of the epidemiological risk factors were identified, and maternal mortality rates were calculated. A total of 165 maternal deaths occurred. Most maternal deathsResults: occurred in the age group of 20–24 years, primi women (53.33%), women from rural areas (75.15%), and unbooked patients (95.15%). Direct causes accounted for 52.27% of maternal deaths, 28.48% of maternal deaths were due to indirect causes and 17.57% of maternal deaths were due to non-obstetric causes ( 89.65 % were due to covid-19) Conclusion: Better reporting of maternal deaths and implementation of evidence-based, focused strategies, along with effective monitoring of maternal health, emphasizes the need for regulation of the private sector and encourages further public-private partnerships and policies, as well as a robust political will and enhanced management capacity for improving maternal health, particularly in an unprecedented health crisis such as Covid-19. As a considerable number of the recorded deaths are preventable, there is substantial room for advancement.Item A-review-the-elderly-patients-in-dentistry(Indian Society for Health and Advanced Research, 2023-05) Kaplan, Mehmet; Discioglu, FeridunThe aim of this review is to determine the factors that cause oral and dental health problems in the elderly. Maintenance of a natural, healthy and functional dentition is as important for healthy aging as maintaining physical and mental abilities. Over the past century, scientific progress has significantly increased life expectancy, people's living standards are improving and people are paying more attention to hygiene conditions. The role of oral and dental health on the general health status of the elderly population is too great to be ignored. In a number of cases, in addition to the effects of Aging on the orofacial region, acquired systemic diseases and the medications used in their treatment cause unpleasant changes in the oral cavity. Tooth loss, abrasions, periodontal diseases, dental caries, lesions in the oral mucosa, etc. cause elderly patients to be unable to perform oral functions well enough. Speech difficulties, muscle atrophy and changes in taste can also be observed. Elderly people need to be treated in cooperation with medical doctors and dentists who monitor the general health of the elderly and ensure good dental careItem A-study-of-association-of-first-trimester-serum-uric-acid-levels-with-development-of-gestational-diabetes-mellitus(INDIAN SOCIETY FOR HEALTH AND ADVANCED RESEARCH, 2024-09) Monisha, Devi V J; Sudharani, A; Mamatha, PaletiObjectives: GDM is a major pregnancy complication that can cause maternal and foetal morbidity and mortality . A substantial amount of research suggests that uric acid may be a major risk factor for the development of diabetes in women. The purpose of this research was to determine whether early pregnancy maternal blood uric acid levels and the onset of gestational diabetes mellitus are interrelated. The prospective observational study was conducted inMethods: Government general hospital, Kurnool from November 2023 to May 2024. Pregnant women of gestational age up to 13 weeks who visited the OBG outpatient department for regular antenatal check-ups during this time period were enrolled in the study with prior consent. In our study, among the 360 pregnant women, 43 (12%) developed GDM.Result: Of these Women with GDM 34 (79.07%) had uric acid levels above 3.5 mg/dl and 9 women (20.93%) with GDM had uric acid levels below 3.5 mg/dl. In present study, the serum Uric acid levels with the criteria of >3.5mg/dl , demonstrated that sensitivity of 80.95% and specificity of 97.16%. There is a strong association between the onset of GDMConclusion: and an elevated serum uric acid level during the first trimester. A 3.5 mg/dl cut-off level appears to have good sensitivity and specificity.Item A-study-of-prevalence-on-maternal-mortality-in-covid19(Indian Society for Health and Advanced Research, 2023-03) Keerthi, Gudipalli; Unnisa, NaseerIntroduction On march 11, 2020, WHO officially announced that COVID 19 has become global pandemic . Most of the studies available on COVID 19 have evaluated the impact of the disease in general population and there are insufficient data on COVID 19 in pregnancy. Pregnant women are more susceptible to acquired viral respiratory infection and severe pneumonia due to physiological changes in immune and cardiopulmonary system during pregnancy COVID 19 infection in pregnancy more likely present as mild symptomatic infection or it may be asymptomatic and the risk of COVID 19 infection for pregnant women may be SARS or middle east respiratory syndrome. Aims And Objectives Aim: ObjectiveTO audit maternal mortality due to COVID 19 : To estimate the prevalence of maternal mortality due to COVID 19 infection in obstetrics patients. A cross sectional study was conducted fromMaterials And Methodology January 1st 2020 to May 30 2022 at GOVERNMENT GENERAL HOSPITAL ,GUNTUR, a tertiary care centre. During study period all pregnant women and antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum who were diagnosed to have COVID 19 infection by RTPCR or RAPID ANTIGEN TEST positive were considered. Out of 942 cases of COVID 19 recordedResults throughout the study period, the prevelance of maternal mortality is 3.3% (32 cases) According to age wise distribution, 37.5% in 20-25 years age group, 56.25% in 25-30 years age group, 6.2% in 30-35years age group. V.; Rs, Anusha; Mali, PareshManagement of sepsis is a time critical procedure; the consequences of improperly managed sepsis and septic shock can cause multiple organ dysfunction and death. The aim of this study was to evaluate of the role of hydrocortisone. Ÿ Sepsis is dened as life-threatening condition causing multi-organ dysfunction by a dysregulated host response to infection. Septic shock is a subset of sepsis with circulatory and cellular or metabolic dysfunction associated with a higher risk of mortality . Ÿ Sepsis is said to effect the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis, causing a relative adrenal insufficiency resulting in cardiovascular instability, metabolic disorders, and a sustained pro- inammatory state. Ÿ The role of pro-inammatory pathways suggests a potential use for corticosteroids as an adjuvant therapy in the treatment of sepsis and septic shock . The Surviving Sepsis campaign guidelines recommend that if adequate uid resuscitation and vasopressors have not restored the hemodynamic stability, it was postulated in limited data to use inj hydrocortisone 100mg i/v 8 hourly for 7 days . Ÿ There was an improvement in the overall survival and reduction in the mortality and morbidity of patients, as observed by early weaning off from vasopressor support, reduction in total leucocyte counts andItem A-study-on-management-of-bleeding-haemorrhoids-with-calcium-dobesilate-vs-inj-sclerotherapy(INDIAN SOCIETY FOR HEALTH AND ADVANCED RESEARCH, 2024-07) Punekar, Meher Darakshan; Awati, Jilani S; Pasha, Iram TIntroduction: Hemorrhoids are very common anorectal conditions that should be treated as early as possible. The treatment options are surgery, injection sclerotherapy, rubber band ligation, conservative management with flavonoids, calcium dobesilate, diet modificatons. A prospective study was done at Amch Vijayapura.Materials: Detailed clinical examination was done, diagnosis of hemorrhoids were made.A total of 100 patients with grade 1 and 2 haemorrhoids with active bleeding were selected for the study and divided into 2 groups. Group A 50 patients treated with calcium dobesilate and Group B 50 patients with injection sclerotherapy. The patients were followed up at 2 weeks, and 1,6,9 month in terms of improvement in symptoms and any complications. This study demonstrated thatResults: both calcium dobesilate and injection sclerotherapy had improved per rectal bleeding after 3 and 6 weeks of treatment, but injection sclerotherapy had better outcome over calcium dobesilate after 6 months of treatment (54% vs. 36%). In case of reduction of hemorrhoidal mass injection sclerotherapy had significantly better outcome in all the follow-up visits, that is, 3 weeks (52% vs. 18%), 6 weeks (64% vs. 30%) and 6 months (60% vs. 28%). Injection sclerotherapy had superior overall treatment outcome after 6 weeks of treatment (66% vs. 42%) and long-term periods (56% vs. 28%). Conclusion: Injection sclerotherapy has been found to offer lasting benefits for the treatment of symptomatic hemorrhoids, unlike calcium dobesilate, which usually offers only temporary relief for per rectal bleeding. This means that while injection sclerotherapy leads to sustained improvement in symptoms, conservative management with calcium dobesilate tends to provide short-term relief specifically for bleeding per rectum.Item A-study-on-online-shopping-behaviour-with-special-reference-to-alappuzha-district(INDIAN SOCIETY FOR HEALTH AND ADVANCED RESEARCH, 2024-10) S, Mahima; Gopalakrishanan, Sreedevi; B, Deepthi; A, AlfiyaOnline shopping is a recent phenomenon in the field of e-business. The placenta is an organ of vital importance for the continuation of a pregnancy and foetal nutrition. In humans, after the birth of the infant, placenta is often disposed soon after parturition without adequate examination. It has been seen that many disorders of the pregnancy are associated with gross anatomical, physiological, and pathological changes in the placenta. Hypertension is one of the common complications met with in pregnancy and contributes significantly to maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Of the few studies that have explored the subject, it has been seen that morphologically, the placentae of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are smaller, with lesser weight, diameter, and thickness as compared to placentae of normal women. Even fewer studies have been done which have correlated these altered placental findings with foetal and neonatal outcomes. Objective: Here we did a study on placental and umbilical cord morphology in mothers with pre-eclampsia and its correlation with foetal outcome at birth in a tertiary care hospital. The study populationMaterial And Methods: consisted of women of gestational age >34 weeks with diagnosed pregnancy induced hypertension or pre-eclampsia who were admitted to the labour room of the study institution for delivery. Mothers with hypertensiveConclusion: disorders of pregnancy tend to have a high incidence of abnormal placental and umbilical cord morphology at delivery such as lower placental weight, diameter, thickness, lower umbilical cord weight, diameter, and length.Item A-study-to-assess-the-level-of-risk-for-hypertension-among-nursing-officers-working-in-esic-medical-college-and-hospital-kalaburgi-karnataka(INDIAN SOCIETY FOR HEALTH AND ADVANCED RESEARCH, 2024-10) V R, Balarama; Hunashyal, Ganesh CHypertension is a serious disease with increasing worldwide prevalence leading to life threatening complication.
