Item Campaign for prostate health examination in Buriram Hospital.(1999-03) Aegukkatajit, SiripongDigital rectal examination (DRE) to evaluate the prostate gland was studied in 100 males, aged 40-81, during 2-3 April 1998. Sixty eight patients had normal gland, 17 had benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) without voiding problem whereas 4 had BPH with problem of voiding. Nine patients were labelled as suspected prostatic cancer and two had prostatitis. Keywords: Campaign; Prostate health examinationItem Comparative study of risk factors in urinary stone patients with normal plain KUB or IVP patients in Buriram Hospital.(1993-11) Aegukkatajit, Siripong; Nuhung, Rungnapa; Sinturat, Rewadee; Nugoonsawat, PenpitA comparative study of risk factors in urinary stone patients with normal plain KUB or IVP patients at surgical clinic and pediatric clinic of Buriram Hospital was done. In the pediatric clinic there were 34 urinary stone patients and 100 control patients. The findings were: age, language, vegetable intake, and drinking water per day (p > 0.05) made no significant difference but sex, type of rice eaten, type of animal meat, and type of water (p < 0.05) made a difference. In the surgical clinical there were 132 urinary stone patients and 88 control patients. The findings were: there were no significant differences between sex, vegetable intake, type of animal meat, type of water, and drinking water per day (p > 0.05) but made a significant difference age, language, and type of rice (p < 0.05). The one significant difference in both clinic was type of rice.Item Epidemiological study of urinary stone based on operative theatre data at Buriram Hospital during October 1990-September 1991.(1993-02) Aegukkatajit, SiripongA prospective descriptive study of urinary stone patients based on operative theatre data and patient interviews was performed at Buriram Hospital during October 1990 – September 1991. There were 230 patients who had surgical treatment, of these the largest age group was 31 – 40 years old (19.6%) with male to female ratio of 2.8:1. The main group of patients lived in Ampur Muang (17.0%) and spoke Lao as their mother-tongue (46.1%). The most common occupation was farming (63.9%). The most common type of stone was renal stone (47.8%) with the right kidney more commonly affected than the left. There were 30.8%) stag horn calculi. For the type of surgery : 44.4% had nephrolithotomy and 4.4% nephrectomy. During the operation general anesthesia was given to 83.5% of the patients. Operating time ranged from 31.60 minutes.Item Otitis media in buriram province.(1986-02) Aegukkatajit, Siripong; Punsantia, Pikul; Nunthaisong, RumpunCases of otitis media were reported after the campaign for treatment and prevention of otitis media at Buriram Hall on 23rd January, 1985. Of the total of 537 patients, 399 patients (74%) were otitis media, 38 patients (7%) were presented with other ear diseases and 100 patients (19%) were normal. Among the group of otitis media ear, and 136 patients (34%) with otitis media of both ears. Male otitis media patients were 256 patients (64%). Females otitis media patients were 143 patients (36%). The ratio of male and female otitis media patients were 1.8 : 1. Six patients (1.5%) had been transferred to Buriram Hospital for radical mastoidectomy.Item Urinary stone patients based on referral letters studied at Buriram Hospital during October 1990 – September 1991.(1993-05) Aegukkatajit, SiripongThis study of urinary stone patients based on referral letters, which were sent to Buriram Hospital, was performed in a period of one year during October 1990-September 1991. 134 patients were studied whose ages ranged from 31-40 years; the male, female ratio being 2.4:1. The health station in the amphur which sent the highest number of the patients to the hospital was Amphur Kumuang (15.7%). The district hospital that sent the most was Kumuang Hospital (16.0%). The highest number of patients refered from health centers came from Amphur Muang. The most common type of stone was renal stone (57.5%). Stones in the right side were more common than stones in the left. 44.3% had nephrolithotomy operation while nephrectomy was done in 8.6%.
