Skeletal muscle tuberculosis without underlying osseous or extra osseous involvement is an extremely rare presentation of tuberculosis. We present a case of isolated tubercular abscess of the vastus lateralis muscle without an evident primary focus in a 52 year old immunocompetent male. The diagnosis was confirmed by histological examination. The patient showed marked improvement with a standard fourdrug regimen.en_US
