dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Reconstruction of head and neck cancerpatients is the most challenging areas in the human body.Patients and Methods: This study is a prospectiverandomized study of 50 consecutive operated patients for headand neck cancer reconstructive surgeries including pedicledand free flaps (radial forearm and fibula free flaps). All patientswere thoroughly monitored postoperatively for its morbidity andsurgical outcome. Results: Although complications are inevitable in a percentageof patients, it is good postoperative care and monitoring thatdetermines the success or failure of the reconstruction andalso permits early salvage of a failing flap. Conclusion: Teamwork and cooperation among members ofthe reconstructive team are critical. We reviewed significanceof clinical care and monitoring of reconstructed head and neckpatients in the intraoperative and postoperative periods. | en_US |
