Abstract
The ideal goal of modern dentistry is to restore the patient to normal contour, function, comfort, esthetics,
speech, and health. Optimal functional occlusion is necessary for maintaining stability, prevent and treat
temporomandibular joint disease syndrome . This article reviews the concepts of functional occlusion in the context of
orthodontics.
