Item Intra-abdominal abscess--a challenge for abdominal surgeons.(1995-01-01) Pradeep, R; Kaushik, S PItem Jejunal leiomyosarcoma presenting as chronic intra-abdominal abscess.(2001-11-31) Sankar, S; Ponnusamy, GWe report a 35-year-old man with jejunal leiomyosarcoma who presented with chronic intra-abdominal abscess. He underwent drainage of the abscess initially but was re-explored four months later when a mass developed. Total excision of the tumor was done.Item Retroperitoneal teratoma presenting as acute abdomen in an elderly person.(2000-04-17) Pandya, J S; Pai, M V; Muchhala, SA 56-year-old man presented with acute abdomen. Clinically, he was diagnosed as having perigastric abscess. On exploration, a retroperitoneal cystic teratoma was encountered. Postoperatively, he recovered uneventfully and has no residual disease two years later.Item Richter's hernia in Spigelian hernia.(2000-01-05) Raveenthiran, V; Pitchumani, SA 75-year-old woman presented with a painful abdominal lump. Clinically and sonographically it was diagnosed as an abscess. Surgical exploration revealed a Spigelian hernia with Richter's type of strangulation. The strangulated portion of the ileum had perforated, leading to abscess formation.
