The mass implementation of short term multi-drug therapy in India, has led to dramatic falls in the prevalence of leprosy. This paper addresses the future role of non-governmental organizations currently involved in leprosy control. This evaluation is based on current trends in leprosy control, projected health needs in the future and the necessity to maximize health care outputs in the face of limited resources.en_US
