Abstract
A method for the estimation of tannin in presence of catechin, pyrogallol, protocatechuic
acid and gallic acid using polyamide column chromatography was developed. Tannin
added to the growing culture of Aspergillus flavus was oxidised to different extents depending
on the duration of incubation. The oxidised compound was identified in the culture filtrate as a
polymerised product of tannin.
