dc.description.abstractPlay in children is natural. Children play to fulfill their needs and self-satisfaction. Children want to play. Values of play are such as health improvement and body-mind-spirit development. Educators in many fields interested and studied intensively about play. Occupational therapy is a professional that provides heath prevention and habilitation in children with special need; therefore, interesting in study about local toys. The objectives of this study were to (1) survey local toys in Nan and Payao provinces, (2) group local toys according to their treatment benefits, and (3) synthesize new local toys for developing and habilitating children with special need. Local toy were found as follows: 40 items from Nan and 24 items from Payao. In both provinces, there were same local toys, which their names were called differently. The local toys were grouped into 4 groups according to their benefits in occupational therapy. They were (1) sensory-motor, (2) muscle, (3) perceptive and cognitive, and (4) social emotional and behavioral improvement. There were some limitation in this process; therefore, the researcher team planned to arrange the conference among expertise in occupational therapy, physical therapy, toy design, and special education in order to appropriately adjust and modify the local toys to use in the future. en_US
