The objective of this experiment was to determine the optimal fertilization rate on the growth and yield of sedge (Cyperus tegetiformis Roxb.) plants. Inorganic fertilizer, 15-15-15 (NPK) was applied twice with 5 rates of application, i.e. 0, 20, 30, 40 and 50 kg/rai. Plant spacing between rows and within rows was 20x20 cm, respectively and the plot size used was a1.5x3 m². The experiment was laid in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 4 replications. Data recorded include plant height, stem diameter, bush size, leaf number, average plant number increment per cluster, leaf area, chlorophyll content and yield. The experiment was carried out during October 25, 2004 to September 30, 2005 at the experimental field, Division of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Technology, Mahasarakham University. The results showed that the 15-15-15 fertilizer at a rate of 40 kg/rai was appropriate for maximum growth in terms of plant height, stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, chlorophyll content and yield (192.67 cm, 1.33 cm, 3.35 leaf, 1.22 mm², 71.29 SPAD Unit and 2,818.33 kg/rai, respectively).en_US
