Abstract
PROBLEM/BACKGROUND: Library's main responsibility is to support faculties and other institutions in academic services. Studying in users’ satisfaction will help reflecting the effectiveness of library services.OBJECTIVE: To study users’ satisfaction to Health Sciences Library Services.RESEARCH DESIGN: Cross sectional descriptive study.SETTING: The Health Sciences Library, Naresuan University.MATERIALS and METHOD: Data was collected in the 2nd semester, academic year 2007 using a questionnaire survey of the Health Sciences Library users’ satisfaction during November 1–December 9, 2007 and focus group discussion on November 22, 2007 in 6 selected users who regularly used the library (3 medical students and 3 medical science students). Percentage, arithmetic means, and standard deviations were employed for data analysis and content analysis for focus group discussion.RESULTS: One hundred and seventy seven users (88.5%) responded the questionnaires, the rather completed responses were 79.0%. The most Health Sciences Library users were females 89.9% were undergraduate students and 40.5%  were studying in the Medical Science Faculty. The results indicated that the three most satisfied issues were: the convenient seats at reading area, the library staff's well temperament and generousness, and the systematic procedures for service. The averagely satisfied issues were the library opening hours and the number of servicing computers.CONCLUSIONS: The most users’ satisfaction in 3 main issues were library facilities, library staff members, and library services process; respectively.
