The study was based on investigations into the parasite reservoir in a malaria endemic region in Sri Lanka, where unstable malaria occurs with 2 seasonal peaks coinciding with the two monosoons. The study also made an attempt to evaluate the role of asymptomatic infections in malaria transmission in the area. Three clusters of villages in the Gokarella Health Area in the Kurunegala District were selected. A newly developed dipstick antigen method known as parasight TMF was evaluated aginst blood film microscopy.en_US
