Item Histopathological changes in testis of the freshwater fish, Heteropneustes fossilis (Bloch) exposed to linear alkyl benzene sulphonate (LAS).(2007-07-03) Kumar, Manoj; Trivedi, S P; Misra, Abha; Sharma, ShuchiThe objective of this study was to use the freshwater food fish, Heteropneustes fossilis, as a model to evaluate the concentration-dependent effects of LAS on the testicular structure through short-term static bioassays. Concentration mediated histopathological leisions were observed in testis of H. fossilis, treated with four different concentrations of LAS for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hr Inference drawn from the study is that the cytotoxic damage is more pronounced in fish exposed to higher concentrations of LAS for shorter durations than lower concentrations of LAS for longer durations. Gross damage of germinal epithelium, inflammatory response, intertubular vacuolations and contraction and condensation in the cells of tubules under all sets of intoxication and exposures are quite suggestive of reproductive impairment leading to delayed gonadal maturity.Item Prevalence of high risk pregnancy and study of maternal and perinatal outcome(2023-12) Sharma, Shuchi; Sharma, Reena; Gautam, AnkushBackground:A high-risk pregnancy refers to pregnancy with an increased risk of adverse outcome in the mother or baby. Directing appropriate timely intervention is very important to prevent maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Aimwas to study the prevalence of High-risk pregnancy and to study the maternal and perinatal outcome.Methods: A record-based retrospective observational study was done from January 2022 to December 2022 among antenatal women who were admitted in the labour ward of tertiary care institute.Results: Among 3,887pregnant patients, 1126 (28.96%) were high risk pregnancies. The most common high-risk factors were hypothyroidism (15.96%), hypertensive disorder (3.31%),previous one caesarean section (2.8%). 88% high risk pregnant women had caesarean section. 96.5% neonates had APGAR score more than 7 and 1.7% neonates were admitted to NICU. There were 8 macerated and 3 fresh still births.Conclusions:Directing appropriate timely intervention is very important to prevent maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. In our tertiary care hospital, the prevalence of high-risk pregnancy was 28.96%and no maternal mortality.
