Item Acceptance analysis of PPIUCD in tertiary care centre of north Delhi region(Medip Academy, 2023-10) Sweta; Anjum, Shazia; Mendiratta, Suman LataBackground: IUCD is a temporary method of contraception in use for many years in India. Our main objective is to find the acceptance of (postplacental intrauterine contraceptive device) PPIUCD in recent years in the North Delhi region.Methods: An interventional study was carried among the pregnant mothers visiting antenatal outdoor patient department Hindu Rao Hospital and NDMC Medical College during their 28 to 36 weeks of pregnancy over period of 12 months starting from March 2020 to February 2021.Results: The acceptance of PPIUCD was high in the present study where most of the women with higher parity (57%) accepted it and acceptance rate increased from 14% to 48% after counselling the patients and her family.Conclusions: Level of awareness for PPIUCD was poor among women of North Delhi region. PPIUCD can play a pivot role in country抯 family planning programme.Item A clinical study of ectopic pregnancy at a tertiary care hospital of North Delhi(Medip Academy, 2023-11) Sweta; Anjum, Shazia; Mendiratta, Suman LataBackground: aim was to study the risk factors, clinical presentation and management of ectopic pregnancy in a tertiary care centre of North DelhiMethods: This was a prospective observational study conducted in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology Hindu Rao hospital and NDMC medical college, Delhi. A total of 65 cases of ectopic pregnancy were analyzed, over a period of 1 year that is from September 2020 to August 2021Results: The incidence of ectopic pregnancy was 12.8/1000 deliveries. Majority of cases were multigravidas and of gestation age between 6 to 10 weeks. The common risk factors were PID, contraception failure (IUCD), tubal ligation, infertility, ART procedures, tubal surgery, and previous ectopic and previous abortion. Ultrasound, urine pregnancy test, serum ?-hCG titre were done. Laparotomy was done in all cases. Surgery in form of salpingectomy, salpingo-oophorectomy, and uterine reconstruction was done. No maternal mortality occurred.Conclusions: Diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy requires clinical suspicion and supportive investigations like UPT, ultrasonography, ?-HCG and laparoscopy. It is an important cause of admission to Hindu Rao hospital as maternal near miss cases.Item Fetal outcome in women with borderline amniotic fluid index at pregnancy 36 weeks and beyond(Medip Academy, 2023-10) Sweta; Mendiratta, Suman LataBackground: Aim of the study were to evaluate the fetal outcome associated with borderline amniotic fluid index (AFI) at pregnancy 36 weeks and beyond and to study the mode of delivery among these patients.Methods: A 60 pregnant subjects who were at 36-42 weeks period of gestation and ultrasonically diagnosed to have AFI less than or equal to 8 cm were included in the study and were compared to 50 pregnant patients with normal amniotic fluid. They were monitored throughout labour and fetal outcome was studied.Results: Fetal distress was observed in 60.4% cases leading to immediate termination of pregnancy. Incidence of meconium stained liquor was found significantly high (75%). Neonatal morbidity was found to be significantly high. Low birth weight (31.6%), Apgar score less than 7 at 5 minutes (20%), NICU admission (71.6%), meconium stained liquor (23.3%) were observed.Conclusions: That there is a high risk of adverse perinatal outcome in cases of Borderline AFI at pregnancy 36 weeks and beyond. Providing intensive intrapartum monitoring and good NICU facilities for such cases is necessary to optimise the fetal outcome.Item Health problems in adolescent girls(Medip Academy, 2023-02) Mendiratta, Suman Lata; S., Suman Dath; Yadav, Rekha; Mittal, Meenakshi; Naaz, FarahBackground: Adolescents form precious human resources in every country, constitutes large number of populations. Adolescence is a period of rapid physical growth, sexual and psychological changes. The aim of the study is to assess the health problems in Adolescent girls and to take measures to prevent and treat their health problems.Methods: This prospective study was conducted from October 2014 to September 2016 in Hindu Rao hospital, North DMC medical college. Patients attending to gynecological outpatient department included in this study. The Statical analysis was done by using Microsoft excel.Results: Majority of patients in our study belongs to 15 to 19 years. Menstrual dysfunction (67.7%) is the most common complaint followed by leucorrhea (14.1%) and infections (10.6%).Conclusions: Adolescence girls presented with various gynaecological problems in our study. Setting up adolescent friendly clinics and privacy to discuss their problems is desirable for early diagnosis and management.
