Item Evaluation of computed tomograms in paediatric head trauma.(1998-01-28) Magu, S; Mishra, D S; Gandhi, S BComputed tomograms of 107 patients of head trauma in the paediatric age group were evaluated. Generalised brain swelling (44%) and falx sign (44%) were the commonest findings observed in the computed tomograms. The overall mortality was 16.8% of which all except one were those with Glasgow coma scale between 3 and 7.Item Evaluation of various diagnostic signs on percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography in obstructive jaundice.(1998-11-28) Yadav, R K; Magu, S; Sharma, A; Sen, J; Malik, P; Arora, JTwenty patients of obstructive jaundice were subjected to percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC) of which 17 were operated on. Patients were divided in 4 groups according to the site of obstruction. The diagnostic signs observed were: Complete block with interface having convexity downwards (4), convexity upwards (3), biconcave caudal cut off (6), smooth edged cut off (one), irregular edged cut off (one) and non-specific appearance (one); incomplete block with interface having convexity upwards (one); biconcave caudal cut off (2) and multiple smooth central filling defects (2). In one case there was incomplete obstruction at two sites giving rise to two different signs. PTC was 100% correct in accurately telling the site of lesion. As regards the nature of the lesion the diagnosis on PTC was found correct in 15 out of 17 cases (88.5%).Item Extradural ependymoma with extraspinal extension: letter to editor.(2002-06-23) Magu, S; Jaswal, T S; Mishra, D S; Magu, N K; Popli, P; Sharma, NItem Fibrous dysplasia of the temporal bone.(2002-09-23) Magu, S; Mishra, D S; Sood, A K; Sharma, NItem Giant cell reparative granuloma of the base of the skull presenting as a parapharyngeal mass.(2003-06-23) Magu, S; Mathur, S K; Gulati, S P; Yadav, A; Kaushal, VGiant cell reparative granuloma is an infrequent non-tumoral lesion affecting the maxillary and mandibular bones and only rarely, the cranial bones. We report a case of giant cell reparative granuloma of the base of the skull in a 12-year-old female who presented with a parapharyngeal mass. Computerized Tomography (CT) showed the intracranial extension and destruction of surrounding bones.Item Multiple primary cancer in one patient.(1995-10-01) Magu, S; Kaushal, V; Mishra, D S; Airon, R KItem Posterior mediastinal teratomas.(2000-03-06) Magu, S; Rattan, K N; Mishra, D SPosterior mediastinal teratomas are rare. We report this entity in a five year old boy. A review of literature of eighteen cases is presented.Item Role of computed tomography in patients with hemoptysis and a normal chest skiagram.(2000-04-01) Magu, S; Malhotra, R; Gupta, K B; Mishra, D SThirty patients of hemoptysis with a normal skiagram chest were evaluated by computed tomography. Majority of the patients were between 21 to 50 years of age. Seventy percent had mild hemoptysis while 30 percent had moderate hemoptysis. Computed tomography provided diagnostic information in 16 patients (53%). The various aetiologies were bronchiectasis (20%), tuberculosis (20%), pneumonia (6.7%), bronchial carcinoid in one case and allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis in one case. Computed tomography may play a role in screening patients who present with hemoptysis with normal chest radiographs.
