An immunological study.(1989-04-01) Jain, A P; Gupta, O P; Jajoo, U N; Sood, RIn adult tuberculous meningitis (10), delayed skin hypersensitivity to DNCB was significantly impaired, whereas to tuberculin not altered. Lymphocyte migration (LMI) index was lower in comparison with pulmonary tuberculosis (20) and healthy adults (20). Lower LMI index was statistically not significant than pulmonary tuberculosis. Serum IgG and IgM levels were higher than in healthy adults. In comparison with pulmonary tuberculosis, only IgM levels were raised. We conclude that in adult tuberculous meningitis, cell mediated immune response is impaired and non-specific antibody response is increased than pulmonary tuberculosis and healthy adults.Item Bromsulphthalein retention test--utility and limitations.(1968-07-01) Gupta, O P; Patel, M R; Mahadevia, S DItem Carcinoma of tonsil (a clinical study of 63 cases).(1982-07-01) Pant, G C; Sanyal, B; Sahni, K; Gupta, O P; Samant, H CItem Cardiotonic and antiveratrinic action of Thevetia neriifolia Juss glycosides compared with ouabain and their structure activity relationship.(1974-09-01) Gupta, O P; Misra, K C; Arora, R BItem Cardiovascular reflexes in long-term diabetics. Motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) and electromyography (EMG) were also recorded in 20 healthy volunteers. Twelve cases were of diabetic neuropathy (DN), nine of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), eight of idiopathic, six of leprous, three of toxic neuropathy and one each of acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) and carcinomatous neuropathy. The onset was insidious in a majority of the cases (70%), the presenting symptom being paraesthesia (27.5%). A variable sensory loss was the commonest finding (77.5%). Two patients each had evidence of cranial nerve involvement and affection of urinary bladder and bowel. In both DN and GBS there was a significant reduction in the MNCV especially in the peroneal nerves. In DN 41.6% had evidence of decreased motor unit potentials and 16.6% showed spontaneous fibrillatory activity. For GBS these figures were 77.7% and 8.3% respectively. The peripheral nerve involvement was variable in leprosy and the EMG was normal in all, but one case.Item Clinical profile of irritable bowel syndrome at a rural based teaching hospital in central India.(1991-05-01) Jain, A P; Gupta, O P; Jajoo, U N; Sidhwa, H KIn a study of 52 patients with irritable bowel syndrome preponderance of males (4.2:1) and young adult age group (20-29 years) was observed. Distinct spastic colon and functional diarrhoea constituted 60%, whereas 40% had mixed presentation. Abdominal pain commonly in the umbilical and splenic flexure region, relieved after defaecation, and rectal dissatisfaction were the common symptoms. Upper gastrointestinal symptoms were present in 25% of patients.Item Clinico-pathological study of nephrotic syndrome in leprosy.(1983-07-01) Jain, A P; Khan, N; Gupta, O P; Gupta, G; Moghe, K VItem Coagulation factors in relation to liver diseases, especially cirrhosis.(1965-12-16) Gupta, O PItem Comparative diagnostic efficiency of criteria used for differentiating transudate and exudate pleural effusions.(1982-11-01) Jain, A P; Gupta, O P; Khan, NItem Comparative evaluation of liver biopsy with Menghini and Vim-Silvermann needles.(1968-08-01) Gupta, O P; Pandit, L NItem A comparative evaluation of streptozyme test and antistreptolysin O test in acute rheumatic fever.(1987-04-01) Gupta, O P; Agarwal, R; Agarwal, B L; Pandey, R CItem A comparative study of Prameha Roga from the Brihatrayee.(2002-07-29) Baruah, D; Gupta, O PThe study of this Prameha Roga reveals the rich knowledge of the Ayurveda developed since the time immemorial. Although descriptions of this disease are scattered in different classics of Ayurveda but here importance has been given to Brihatrayee. The aim and object of this paper review the well documented concept of the Ayurveda about the Prameha Roga as the trend of diabetes is increasing day by day in the society and is very difficult to prevent and manage owing to its complexity. The Ayurvedic concept of this Roga information on the subject regarding classification, characteristics, features etc. has been also made in this paper. This article highlights the wisdom of ancient Indian literature and some historical view of the disease i.e. Prameha Roga or Diabetes Mellitus.Item A correlative study of alpha-1-antitrypsin and hepatitis B surface antigen in conventional paraffin sections of chronic liver diseases.(1985-04-01) Khan, N; Gupta, S G; Ramachandran, A; Gupta, O P; Jajoo, U N; Jain, A PItem Crossed Fused Renal Ectopia Multidetector Computed Tomography Study.(2014-04) Sharma, V; Babu, C S Ramesh; Gupta, O PCrossed renal ectopia is one of the rarest congenital malformations where a kidney is located on the side opposite to the side of its ureteral insertion into the urinary bladder and is generally fused with the normally located ipsilateral mate. Generally this anomaly remains as a silent clinical entity and is incidentally detected during evaluation for other conditions. We report here three such cases of crossed fused renal ectopia detected by multidetector row contrast enhanced computed tomography. Crossed fused renal ectopia of inferior type was observed in a male on the right side with the ureter of the ectopic left kidney crossing the midline. In two female patients, L-shaped or tandem kidney was noted, one on the right and another on the left side. Over all in two cases the left kidney was ectopic and in one the right kidney. No renal pathologies like urinary tract infection, nephrolithiasis or hematuria were found in our patients.
