In contrast no correlation between body weight and AFP levels exists in babies of either sex at identical gestational age.Item Assessment of Wetland Ecosystem Services using RAWES Approach: A Case Study of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India(Ms. M. B. Mondal, Ph.D., 2025-07) Sahu, P; Sharma, D; Dixit, A; Tigga, A; Singh, P; Sahu, S.Urban wetlands are important for sustaining and maintaining ecological balance and human well-being. This study applied the Rapid Assessment of Wetland Ecosystem Services (RAWES) approach to assess the ecosystem services provided by 38 urban wetlands located within urban settlements of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. The assessment of urban wetlands was conducted during 2025, and classified ecosystem services into provisioning, cultural, regulating and supporting groups. Result showed that among provisioning services fresh water (++ = 11) and food (++ = 12) showed the significant positive contributions. Regulating services like air quality (+ = 24) and climate regulation (+ = 24) showed positive contributions whereas services such as pest regulation (- = 26), disease control (- = 21) and nutrient cycling showed negative contributions mainly because of degradation or pollution. Cultural services such as recreation and tourism (++ = 4) showed positive contributions whereas, spiritual and educational services showed limited benefits. Vegetation analysis showed the dominance of ecologically and culturally important tree species such as, Ficus religiosa and Azadirachta indica. The ecosystem service index was used for quantification of the services and to highlight the need for better conservation strategies. The RAWES framework is a participatory tool used for identifying, quantifying and supporting the conservation of urban wetlands.Item Carboxypeptidases from goat pancreas.(1973-09-01) Dua, R D; Dixit, AItem Comparative evaluation of antimicrobial efficacy of various intracanal medicament in young permanent teeth: An in vivo study(Wolters Kluwer, 2024-07) Dixit, A; Kapoor, R; Doneria, D; Mathur, S; Goel, S; Singh, R.Introduction: Bacteria and their byproducts are key contributors to the onset and perpetuation of pulpoperiapical pathosis. Intracanal medication is vital in achieving successful endodontic outcomes as it targets and eradicates remaining microorganisms following biomechanical preparation. Aim and Objective: The aim of the study was to compare and evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy of calcium hydroxide (CH) paste, triple antibiotic paste (TAP), and probiotics (PBs) as intracanal medicament in 12–17-year-old children undergoing root canal treatment for the management of infected pulpal tissues in young permanent teeth. Materials and Methods: A total of 30 patients aged 12–17 years indicated for endodontic therapy in maxillary incisors and with no systemic complications were selected. They were randomly divided into three groups, i.e., Group I – CH group, Group II – TAP, and Group III – PB allocating 10 teeth in each group. After access opening, the first sample (S1) was collected by inserting a paper point into the root canal, the second sample (S2) was collected immediately after biomechanical preparation, and the third sample (S3) was collected after 7 days, i.e., postintracanal medication. Samples were sent for microbiological analysis to assess the microbial count, and statistical analysis was done for the obtained data. Results: The three intracanal medicaments were successful in reducing the microbial counts of Enterococcus faecalis in the infected root canals. However, according to the results of the study, the PB group demonstrated greater effectiveness against E. faecalis compared to the CH group and displayed similar antimicrobial efficacy as the TAP group. Conclusion: PB exhibited antimicrobial efficacy comparable to TAP but greater than Ca (OH) 2 paste. Hence, PB can be utilized as an intracanal medicament in young permanent teeth.Item Culture appropriate indicators for monitoring growth and development of urban and rural children below 6 years.(1992-03-01) Dixit, A; Govil, S; Patel, N VIn this cross sectional study, 2000 apparently normal children aged 0-6 years (1200 urban and 800 rural), were nutritionally and developmentally assessed and their environment scrutinized for possible risk factors. Measurement of mid upper arm circumference (MUAC) using standard techniques revealed malnutrition in 44% of the rural and 24% of the urban children especially in the 2-6 years of age group. Culture appropriate indicators of psycho-social development picked up gross delays in gross motor (GM), vision and fine motor (V&FM) and language skills. Self help, concept hearing (SHCH) skills were recorded as normal while social skills were advanced particularly in the 0-2 years old urban group. By the use of the family protocols, low socio-economic status, malnutrition and 9 other risks factors have been generated for the urban group. No risk factor could be identified for the rural group. Better income emerged as the only real protective factor for the sample showing a direct positive relationship with the 45 skills tested, especially in the 2-6 years age group. Nineteen developmental skills were identified as powerful predictors of development. A prototype home based screening record was constructed for monitoring of growth and development which can be even used by minimally trained primary care worker.Item Effect of ascorbic acid & DMBA on lysosomal enzymes' activity in partially hepatectomized mouse liver.(1983-01-01) Dixit, A; Rao, A RItem Endogenous inhibitor of carboxypeptidase A from goat pancreas.(1975-06-01) Dua, R D; Bedi, G S; Dixit, AItem Exploring 慳lgo-rhythms in cardiovascular diseases: a narrative review of the efficacy of using artificial intelligence in coronary artery disease and atrial fibrillation(Medip Academy, 2024-09) Sharma, S; Bhatia, S; Dixit, A; Kumar, AJ; Singla, H.Recent strides in cardiology have introduced a transformative era by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into coronary artery disease (CAD) management. For the prevention of migraines, the two most often prescribed drugs are topiramate (TPM) and flunarizine. Regarding TPM and flunarizine’s long-term efficacy, safety, and adverse effects on migraine prevention, little is known. To evaluate the effectiveness of flunarizine against TPM in migraine prophylaxis and its impact on psychomotor ability, the current study was designed. Aims and Objectives: The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy of flunarizine and TPM in the prophylaxis of migraine and to assess change in the psychomotor ability of the brain using different psychomotor analysis scoring systems. Materials and Methods: A comparative, open-label, and prospective study was carried out on patients with chronic migraine from the outpatient department of the neurology department at Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai, Uttar Pradesh, with flunarizine and TPM treatment (n = 20/group) for 2 months. Data regarding patient’s scores of headache severity on the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), digit later substitution test, 6 letter cancellation test, digit span test, mathematical ability test, and flicker fusion apparatus test were recorded and analyzed. Results: When compared to the baseline, the mean±standard deviation pain severity score on the VAS was 2.9 ± 0.8 in the flunarizine group and 3.7 ± 1.4 in the TPM group, with a P < 0.001. Furthermore, the flunarizine group showed less decline in performances in the scores of each psychomotor test as compared with the scores of the TPM treatment group when baseline values were compared at 1 and 2 months. Conclusion: Flunarizine is well tolerated, has a better safety profile, and has less cognitive decline as compared to TPM.Item Human Papilloma Virus, Programmed Death Ligand-1, and Tumor Microenvironment: Implications for the Patients with Head-and-Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma(International Research Organization for Life & Health Sciences, 2024-02) Kapoor, A; Pandey, P; Dixit, A; Agarwal, S; Tewari, U; Mittal, K; Pratap, J; Akhtar, SObjectives: To investigate the relationship among the immunohistochemical expression of programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1), CD8, and human papillomavirus (HPV) with a variety of clinicopathological parameters. Purpose: The study of PD-L1, HPV, and CD8 expression may provide clinicians with more exact information to appraise tumor aggressiveness and treatment modalities. Methods: In this prospective study, a total of 100 head-and-neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cases were investigated. The tumor was graded according to World Health Organization criteria. PD-L1, CD8, and HPV expression were determined by immunohistochemical staining. The obtained results were assessed using the Chi-square test. Results: Out of 100 cases, 73% of patients were positive for PD-L1, 90% of cases were positive for HPV expression, and 94% of cases were positive for CD8. There was a statistically significant link between PD-L1 and drinking alcohol, abnormal sexual behavior, having multiple sexual partners, and the grade of the tumor. CD8 expression was also associated with gender and smoking. In contrast to this, HPV expression is associated with aberrant sexual behavior. The connection between the expression of PD-L1 and CD8 was found to be substantial (P = 0.002). Conclusion: HNSCC with high CD8+ TIL infiltration and PD-L1 expression may have a better outcome, superior survival, and cancer endurance.Item Interaction of human alpha fetoprotein with bilirubin.(1990-07-01) Bansal, V; Kumari, K; Dixit, A; Sahib, M KHuman alpha fetoprotein (AFP) binds bilirubin with an affinity somewhat lower than albumin. B. Mondal, 2024-07) Dixit, A; Bhayani, H; Hirpara, R; Vala, K; Jaipal, MK; V., R.RSM was performed for the optimization of processing conditions to develop ghewar, traditional sweetmeat of India. Three variables i.e. frying temperature (160-180 ?C), batter temperature (5-10 ?C) and frying time (4-6 minute) were taken to investigate the effect on ghewar responses viz., oil content, moisture content, texture and sensory attributes (OA). The optimum conditions were 160 ?C frying temperature, 5?C batter temperature and 4 minute frying time. Upon optimization, the ghewar yielded the following results: 45.33% oil content, 4.65% moisture, 15.2 N texture (hardness), 54.89 L value, 15.16 a value, 24.97 b value, 58.73 hue value, 29.21 chroma value, 48.07 total color difference, and 0.24 water activity. Storage study of optimized ghewar was also carried out and found shelf stable for 30 days in metallised foil pouches. Hardness values were found to progressively drop from 15.2-9.40 N during the storage period, whereas moisture content, FFA, and peroxide value were found to gradually increase from 3.70-5.12%, 0.33-0.54 %, and 4.8-7.6 meq/kg, respectively.Item Process Optimization for Development of Extruded Snack from Brown Rice-Amaranth-Moringa Seed Powder Blend(Ms. M. B. Mondal, 2025-02) Jaipal, MK; Sutar, R; Dixit, A; V, R; Joshi, ND.The study was aimed at utilizing brown rice, germinated amaranth and moringa seed powder in the development of nutritious extruded product. The extruded product was optimized by employing Response Surface Methodology using Central Composite Rotatable Design (CCRD). The experiment consists of three independent variables each having five different levels. The process variables were selected as feed moisture content (8-16%), blend ratio of brown rice flour: germinated amaranth flour: defatted moringa seed powder (50:45:5, 50:40:10, 50:35:15, 50:30:20 and 50:25:25) and barrel temperature (100-140ºC). Optimization was done on the basis of product responses i.e. bulk density, expansion ratio and hardness. The values of bulk density, expansion ratio and hardness of extruded products ranged between 0.06 to 0.35 g/cm2, 2.30 to 3.34 and 497.48 to 1425.17 g, respectively. The optimum values of extrusion conditions obtained through numerical optimization were blend ratio (50:30:20), feed moisture content (12%) and barrel temperature (1300C). The corresponding predicted values for bulk density, expansion ratio and hardness was 0.0964 g/cm3, 3.33 and 617.16 g, respectively with desirability 0.912. Whereas the corresponding experimental values for bulk density, expansion ratio and hardness were 0.0939 g/cm3, 3.35 and 635.56 g, respectively. Thus, it is concluded that the brown rice, germinated amaranth and defatted moringa seed has potential to be incorporated in the development of nutritious extruded snacks.Item Psychosocial development of urban children (below 2 years) using culture appropriate indicators of development.(1994-02-01) Dixit, A; Patel, N VSix hundred essentially normal children 15 days-2 years were randomly assessed for their nutritional and developmental status.
