Item Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology in the Management of Tumors and Tumor like Lesions of Bone(2006-07) Sherwani, Rana; Akhtar, Kafil; Abrari, Andleeb; Sherwani, Khalid; Goel, Sanjeev; Zaheer, SufianFNAC should be considered as the part of routine preliminary investigation of orthopaedic patients presenting with musculoskeletal tumorous lesions. A total of 110 cases were screened cytologically in the background of clinical, radiological findings and biochemical tests. Primary malignant tumor formed the major entity accounting for 56% of the cases, while benign tumors comprised 8% only. Overall success rate of needle aspiration cytology in diagnosing tumors and tumor like lesions was 92%. Giant cell tumors of bone was the most common malignant lesion observed in 15 cases (30%), followed by Ewing's Sarcoma in 5 cases (10%). Cytologic diagnosis was completely compatible with the final histopathologic diagnosis in 82.3% of cases.Item Mammography-guided stereotactic fine needle aspiration cytology of breast lesions.(2006-07-28) Ahmad, S Shamshad; Akhtar, Kafil; Abrari, Andleeb; Ritanjaya,; Ahmad, Ibne; Mansoor, TariqThe purpose of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of mammographic guided stereotactic fine needle aspiration cytology in 136 patients with breast lesions including mammographic features, cytomorphological findings and nuclear grading in malignant cases. Majority of the cases were predictable correctly by combination of the three modalities of diagnosis viz, clinical examination, mammography and cytology.Item Multilocular cystic renal cell carcinoma: a diagnostic rarity.(2008-07-30) Sabhiki, Abha; Abrari, Andleeb; Sachdev, Ritesh; Chawla, Anu; Vaidya, AnitaItem Semen analysis profile in male infertility: an experience with 100 cases.(2003-01-19) Abrari, Andleeb; Aziz, MeharIn the assessment of unexplained infertility the evaluation of seminal characteristics is primary and paramount, as far as the male is concerned. We present in this article our experience with semen analyses of 100 infertile males. The collection and examination were according to standardized and well accepted methodology. We found that majority of infertile men were within the age interval of 26-30 years, and had been married for 1-3 years, when they first submitted themselves for fertility assessment. The physical parameters were found to be important, in that they in many patients pointed towards a specific physical cause; depletion in semen volume, altered colour, and pH changes were found especially informative. We also found the microscopic arm of semen analyses very useful in pin-pointing existing deficits in the male. Some significant correlations were also observed between abnormal microscopic parameters and clinical conditions. The results are discussed.Item Solitary fibrous tumour (SFT) of the residual tongue, post partial glossectomy for carcinoma.(2014-10) Abrari, Andleeb; Bakshi, Vandana
