As one of the leading causes of anovulatory infertility, it is believed that 5-10% of the reproductive-aged female population is living with polycystic ovary syndrome. Ayurveda considers the excellence of 4 factors- Ritu (ovulatory phase), Kshetra (garbhasaya), Ambu (proper nourishment to embryo), and Bija (healthy sperm and ovum) for a successful pregnancy. Impairment to any of these factors leads to Vandhytva or pregnancy failure. This case study helps to plan a treatment protocol for the patient with PCOS having infertility. A 25 yr old female having regular cycles came to OPD of Streeroga of IPGT & RA, having the complaints of weight gain and failure to conceive since 2 year of active married life. On presentation she was a medium sized woman with android body habits and had mild hirsute and acanthosis nigricans over nape of neck. Gynaecological examination revealed a normal sized uterus with no other abnormalities. Sonography revealed bulky ovaries with multiple small follicles with no evidence of ovulation along with small fibroids on anterior wall (1.8cm×1.5cm) and posterior wall (2.7cm×2.8cm). Her husband’s semen analysis was normal. Based on clinical findings and investigation, anovulatory factor infertility due to PCOS was diagnosed along with fibroid. Virechana and Samana were decided due to both of these factors and Sthanyasodhana gana kashaya was selected as Samana drug. Treatment was done for 3 months, during treatment itself ovulation occured and the patient conceived after 3 months. This case being a Krichrasadhya vyadhi, proper care was taken including correction of the lifestyle and food habits. This case will help to understand the importance of Sodhana in gynecological disorders and explore the probable mode of action of Sthanyasodhana gana kashaya which helped in menstrual regulation.Item Physico-chemical And Microscopic Study Of Arjuna (terminalia Arjuna) Bark(Mahadev Publications, 2018-01) Chaudhary, Satya Prakash; Dr Kirtika; Singh, Anil Kumar; Ram, B.In present study plant of Arjuna has been taken for physical and chemical analysis in terms of microtome of bark, powder study, loss on drying, ash values, extractive values, bulk density, Acid insoluble ash, Water-soluble Ash, Water-soluble extractive value, Alcohol-soluble extractive, pH range, TLC, Tapped density, Compressibility index, Hauser ratio, Angle of repose, Ultra violet fluorescence analysis of drug, etc. Physical and chemical analysis an important place in standardization of Ayurvedic drugs in order to make its global acceptability. The disposal of excess mercury has always been a matter of concern. Thus, in the present study, we attempted to evaluate a simple procedure from Rasa Shastra using lime powder, garlic and rock salt for recycling of excess mercury obtained from dental operatory. Materials and methods: The excess mercury was recycled by the standard procedure explained in Ayurveda texts (Samanya shodhana) using Sudha churna (lime powder), Lashuna kalka (paste of Allium sativum L.) and Saindhava lavanaa (rock salt). The commercially available mercury and recycled mercury was analyzed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) for the detection of elements in ppm level. Results: It was found that the excess impure mercury contained 5138 ppm, 2866.1 ppm and 0.371 ppm of Silver, Copper and Tin respectively. After Shodhana, the level of silver, tin and copper were markedly reduced. Purified mercury showed a level of 119.5ppm silver, 0.5324 ppm copper and 0.3233 ppm tin. Conclusion: Samanya shodhana is a simple promising procedure which can be used for mercury recycling. The procedure doesnot require sophisticated equipments and maneuver. Further, the materials used in the procedure are easily available and affordable at low cost.Item Comparative Pharmacognostical Study Of The Genuine And Market Samples Of The Stem Bark Of Cirabilwa (holptelea Integrifolia Planch.)(Mahadev Publications, 2018-01) T P, Sinimol; A, Shahul HameedContext: The stem bark of Cirabilwa (Holoptelea integrifolia Planch.) is used for treating various disease conditions including Dyspepsia, Flatulence, Colic, Helminthiasis, Vomiting, Skin diseases, Diabetes Mellitus, Haemorrhoids and Rheumatism in traditional system of medicine since ancient times. Kaseesa (green vitriol) chemically known as ferrous sulphate which is a well known mineral used in various formulations as haematinic and emmenagogue was studied for standardization before making one of its formulation. Raw Kaseesa was analyzed for heavy metals using sophisticated method of Inductively Coupled plasma and was found that it contained metals lead and copper outside permissible limit of pharmacopeia norms. For this study various samples were collected and evaluated by the Rasashastra experts and later by Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeial methods. After the confirm identity, the samples were selected for the Heavy Metal Analysis. Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) method used for this study and results found in raw Kaseesa are Copper 7.2153 ppm, Lead 1288.0 ppm and Mercury, Arsenic, Cadmium were not detected. The authors recommend further study of Kaseesa after its Shodhana and other processes to study whether such heavy metal (Cadmium, Lead, Arsenic, Mercury and copper) contents are found in the finished product.Item Literary Review Of Kaphaja Yoni Vyapad (non Specific Vulvo Vaginitis)(Mahadev Publications, 2018-02) Sarmah, Smita; Baishya, Balen; Humtsoe, YanbeniA healthy woman is a promise of a healthy family. All these metals and minerals are used in different formulations like Sneha (Oil &Ghee), Sandhana (Fermentation), Churna (powder), Vati (tablet), Lepa (Caoting powder) & Anjana (Collyrium). Human body is composed of almost every natural element found in nature and our civilization is completely reliant on metals and the science of metallurgy is now one of the most widely documented and researched material science.Item An Ayurvedic And Contemporary Overview Of Menopause: A Conceptual Approach(Mahadev Publications, 2018-02) Mishra, Amrita; Shelare, Rajashree VitthalMenopause is generally defined as the cessation of menses for period of 12 months or a period equivalent to three previous cycles or the time of cessation of ovarian function resulting in permanent amenorrhea. During the period of menopause the women enters an estrogen deficient phase which leads to the various symptoms. This period is generally associated with manifestation of aging process in women. Degenerative changes are explained in Ayurveda as Dhatukshaya lakshana. Vata dosha dominance is seen in the later stage of life. To combat the degenerative process of the body tissue, Acharyas have described Rasayana Chikitsa. Rasayana includes drugs which promotes longevity and improve the quality of life. Thus an effort is being made here, to study the effect of Rasayana therapy, on Menopausal syndrome, conceptually, based on Available information in Ayurvedic texts and other contemporary resources. The basic Rationale for this study is to establish a reliable platform for further Research on the Said subject.Item Significance Of Ahara Vidhi Vishesh Ayatan In The Management Of Normal Health (special Direction Of Food)(Mahadev Publications, 2018-02) Pathak, S.
