Effect of macrocomponents of food on the pharmacokinetics of a long acting preparation of anhydrous theophylline. Indian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology. 1993 Oct; 37(4): 303-7http://imsear.searo.who.int/handle/123456789/107343In a single dose crossover study, the effect of macrocomponents of food on the pharmacokinetics of a long acting preparation of anhydrous theophylline was investigated. Compared to fasting subjects, carbohydrate and fat rich diet caused an enhancement of absorption half life and a lower Cmax with a delayed tmax and elimination of the bronchodilator. Protein coadministration decreased AUCO-OC of the drug without significantly altering its absorption or elimination kinetics.engAbsorptionAdultDelayed-Action PreparationsDietary Carbohydrates --pharmacologyDietary Fats --pharmacologyDietary Proteins --pharmacologyEating --physiologyFastingFemaleHalf-LifeHumansMaleTheophylline --pharmacokineticsEffect of macrocomponents of food on the pharmacokinetics of a long acting preparation of anhydrous theophylline.Clinical Trial
