Of 103 patients, 36(34.95%) required assisted ventilation. The need for ventilatory support was significantly more with greater time duration for institution of specific treatment, low level of sensorium at admission, pin-point pupils and generalized fasciculations, presence of convulsions, presence of respiratory insufficiency at admission, and higher initial atropine requirement for atropinization.
