In the past , the main treatment was only symptomatic care such as anticonvulsant therapy. Recently, two major medical advances have a review of cerebral cysticercosis.The first is the increased availability of CAT scanning , which has contributed both to a more accurate diagnosis and to a better understanding of the pathophyiology of cerebral cysticercosis. Investigators can now easily assess changes in lesions or their disappearance during treatment. The second advance is the development and experimental use of chemotherapeutic agents, such as praziquantel, in the treatment of cerebral cysticercosis.
