B-type Natriuretic Peptide May be Unsuitable for Diagnosing Central. The Indian Journal of Chest Diseases and Allied Sciences, 2014 Oct; 56 (4): 253-254.http://imsear.searo.who.int/handle/123456789/156805We describe a case of a 90-year-old male admitted to the emergency department with deep vein thrombosis and central acute pulmonary embolism. Despite a remarkably increased value of D-dimer and a modestly elevated concentration of cardiac troponin I, the value of B-type natriuretic peptide was found to be non-diagnostic. Limited to this single case report, our evidence suggests that the measurement of natriuretic peptides is questionable for diagnosing central acute pulmonary embolism in the emergency department.enB-type natriuretic peptidePulmonary embolismVenous thromboembolismAged, 80 and overAnticoagulants --administration & dosageFibrin Fibrinogen Degradation Products --analysisHeparin, Low-Molecular-Weight --administration & dosageHumansMaleNatriuretic Peptide, Brain --bloodPredictive Value of TestsPrognosisPulmonary Embolism --bloodPulmonary Embolism --diagnosisPulmonary Embolism --drug therapyPulmonary Embolism --etiologyReproducibility of ResultsTomography, X-Ray Computed --methodsTreatment OutcomeTroponin --bloodVenous Thrombosis --complicationsWarfarin --administration & dosageB-type Natriuretic Peptide May be Unsuitable for Diagnosing Central.Article
