Indian Medical Gazette. 2014 Feb ; 148 (2): 43-46.http://imsear.searo.who.int/handle/123456789/157583High frequency US probe is more informative of both spatial and contrast resolution with increase in the sensitivity of breast examination. A prospective study of 100 patients with symptomatic breast disease and negative X-Ray mammography were undertaken of 72 patients who were below 35 years of age. Ultrasonography was performed using high frequency (10-13MHz) annular phased array transducer. In 28 patients (28%) focal abnormalities were observed. 12 patients had nodular lesions (6 malignant), 14 had cystic lesions and 2 had galactasia. It is suggested that high frequency breast US is a useful tool in examination of symptomatic breasts, particularly in relatively younger patients.enAdultBreast --ultrasonographyBreast Diseases --ultrasonographyBreast Neoplasms --ultrasonographyFemaleHumansUltrasonography --instrumentationUltrasonography --methodsRole of High Frequency US in Breast Imaging.Article
