The mechanisms of action of IVIg are several, it can modulate an immune reaction at the level of T cells, B cells, macrophages, the complement cascade and the cytokine network. Given the potential risks and cost-effectiveness of IVIg, careful consideration of the indications and administration of IVIg is warranted.
