Item An Interesting Case of Recurrent Ophthalmoplegic Neuropathy(Journal of Indian Medical Association, 2025-02) Padmapriya, S; Shobana, N; Sacratis, M; Sadeeshkumar, V; Selvakumar, CJ; Thomas, JJ.Ophthalmoplegic migraine was previously defined as migraine associated with oculomotor palsy. The condition has recently been termed recurrent painful ophthalmoplegic neuropathy (RPON). There is a paucity in the literature reporting the incidence and treatment strategies for RPON. This case report describes a 19-year-old male diagnosed with RPON and the management strategies implemented for treatment.Item A Rare Convergence: A Case Report on Bilateral Hypoglossal Schwannoma in a Patient with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease 2(IJCP Group, 2024-06) Gautham, K Sankavi; Selvakumar, CJ; Kumar, V Sadeesh; Sacratis, M; Shobana, NThis case presents a rare co-occurrence of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2 (CMT2) and schwannoma, shedding light on the intricate relationship between two neurogenic disorders. CMT is a hereditary sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy while schwannoma is a benign encapsulated tumor involving Schwann cells. The co-occurrence has been previously described in 2 patients in a family with CMT type 1A. Our case reports the first documented instance of the co-occurrence of bilateral hypoglossal schwannoma in CMT2.Item Stroke – A Rare Initial Presentation of Takayasu Arteritis(IJCP Group, 2022-11) Mohanty, Shraddha Laxmidhar; Selvakumar, CJ; TM, Joby; Laha, AnirbanIntroduction: Now-a-days, young people below age of 40 years without known risk factors are presenting with stroke. The cause of stroke should be found so that recurrence and other complications can be prevented. Case description: An 18-year-old female presented with holocranial headache, focal seizures with impaired awareness and left hemiparesis. The upper limb pulses were absent on both sides, while pulses in lower limbs were present. MRI scan of brain revealed infarct in right middle cerebral artery territory. CT angiography brain showed luminal narrowing in upper limb arteries, carotid artery and vertebral artery. She was treated with antiplatelet drug, tablet carbamazepine, tablet methotrexate with folinic acid and she improved. Discussion: Takayasu arteritis is an inflammatory vasculitis disease causing stenosis in medium and large sized arteries. It can present as stroke, myocardial infarction, aortic insufficiency, retinal ischemia, renal failure and hypertension. Conclusion: Takayasu arteritis is one of the rare causes of stroke, which when detected should be promptly treated to prevent further episodes of stroke and other system complications.Item A Unique Case Report on "Bilateral Optic Neuropathy as a Rare Manifestation of Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension"(IJCP Group, 2024-09) Gautham, K Sankavi; Selvakumar, CJ; Kumar, V Sadeesh; Sacratis, M; Shobana, NSpontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is an uncommon condition characterized by low cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) volume through a dural defect leakage, which results in multiple debilitating clinical manifestations. Although ocular manifestations are common, vision impairment due to SIH is not commonly reported. Optic neuropathy is a rare yet significant complication of SIH. This case documents the association between optic neuropathy and SIH, highlighting the diagnostic challenges and the complexities of managing this condition.
