Item Assess and Evaluation the Quality Of Life (Qol) Among Cancer Patients Undergoing Treatment by Using EORTC QLQ-30 Scale(Medsci Publications, 2022-02) Agarwal, AK; Yadav, A; Yadav, CS; Mahore, R; Dixit, P.Background: Cancer is a challenge for majority of population抯 health-related quality of life (HRQoL), compromising their physical health and emotional well-being. QoL is equally distributed among different social groups. The aim of this study to analyze the impact of clinical characteristics and social determinants of health on the QoL of a cohort of persons diagnosed and/or treated for cancer. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study in a cohort of 155 with various stages of cancer at different stages of their disease. Data were obtained using questionnaires QLQ-C30 from the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), which include a set of functional and symptomatic scales. We conducted descriptive and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test, Anova Test and adjusted for relevant variables using logistic regression. The dependent variables were the functional scales of QoL and the independent variables were socio-demographic and clinical variables. Results: Among the participants, 80(51.6%) were male and 75(48.4%) were female and majority 66(42.6%) in between the age of 40-60 years. Large proportion of patients were diagnosed with Oral cancer 67(43.2%), and Breast cancer 23(14.8%), and the clinical stages during the beginning of therapy were maximum at stage II a 104(67.1%). The mean of global health status/QoL was 52.34 (SD= 23.34). Quality of life was found to be significantly associated with some functional scales as role functioning (P?0.001), social function, (P=0.00), and symptom scales as pain (P=0.00), loss of appetite (P=0.004) and financial impact (P=0.02) as well as associations were noted in relation to socio demographic characteristics. Women from the most disadvantaged class, and showed the poorest results for most of the function scales. In contrast, age, education, occupation and social status had differential effects depending on the function studied. The highest functional status was cognitive functioning (54.58.68). Conclusions: The cancer diagnosis has become more prevalent and carries significant changes to the method of living with physical and emotional changes in term of quality of life (QoL) because of inconvenience, torment, disfigurement, reliance and loss of confidence. In addition, addressing the unmet needs of these patients and ensuring higher satisfaction rate are recommended to maintain adequate HRQoL.Item Carrier preference after graduation among AIIMS nursing students: higher education or government job as nursing officer(Medip Academy, 2024-01) Phalswal, U.; Dixit, P.; Verma, R.; Rathee, A.Background: Career by choice means that a student chooses a career of their own choice according to their interests and the demands of time. The present study aimed to investigate the preferences of pursuing government jobs or higher education among final-year nursing undergraduates and perceived barriers to pursuing higher education in nursing. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional web-based study was conducted among 207 final-year B.Sc. nursing students from May 2021 to June 2021 at the various All India Institutes of Medical Sciences of India. Data collection was done using total enumerative sampling techniques by self-structured questionnaire. A descriptive statistic was applied to prepare the results. Results: Findings suggested that the government job after graduation was the priority among students (63.3%), and only (30.4%) of students were highly motivated to pursue higher education in nursing. The majority (42.9%) of respondents given a reason to choose a nursing course were not selected in NEET-UG. Further data revealed that the reason for choosing the job over higher education was financial independence. Findings also reported that the student's perspectives towards the nursing profession were a lack of respect as compared to other medical professions, stigma in society, socially less accepted professions, fewer opportunities in research and education, and gender discrimination in the profession. Conclusions: The findings necessitate the need for a sensitization program to develop awareness of the benefits of pursuing higher education. This may change the stigma and improve the social image of the profession.Item Comprehensive management of a child with X-linked lymphoproliferative disease undergoing stem cell transplantation: a case report(Medip Academy, 2024-09) Rathee, A; Jangid, R; Dixit, P.An uncommon immunodeficiency disease known as X-linked lymphoproliferative disease (XLP) has been associated with severe immunological dysfunction and a high susceptibility to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infections. This case report describes a four-year-old boy who had X-linked lymphoproliferative illness and died from multiple system organ failure (MSOF) after receiving treatment with a haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplant (halo-HSCT). While providing care in such circumstances, rational-based care, prompt identification, primary nursing care, health education, and emotional assistance for parents of individuals with X-linked lymphoproliferative diseases are vital.Item Effectiveness of self-instructional module on knowledge regarding emotional intelligence among nursing undergraduates(Medip Academy, 2023-10) Dixit, P.; Tiwari, S. K.; Kumar, P.; Sepat, S.; Bugalia, U.Background: Nursing profession requires not only technical expertise but also holistic care, including emotional and social aspects. Nursing student must effectively manage their emotions in stressful situations. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the self-instructional module in enhancing knowledge regarding emotional intelligence among nursing undergraduates. Methods: A pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was utilized to collect data from 100 nursing students by using a non-probability convenient sampling technique. After the pre-test, a self-instructional module was administered over two sessions, with daily one-hour for three days. The post-test was administered seven days after the intervention. Results: A significant mean difference was observed between the mean pre-test knowledge scores and the mean post-test knowledge scores. (10.81±2.82 vs 21.22±2.74, p<0.001) The study also revealed that socio-demographic parameters like gender, residence, monthly family income, and extracurricular activities influenced pre-test knowledge scores. Conclusions: The self-instructional module effectively improved emotional intelligence among nursing students, enhancing their understanding of this crucial aspect.Item Efficacy of Medical Adherence on Quality of Life Among Cardiac Patients(Medsci Publications, 2024-06) Chavhan, AV; Verma, R; Verma, M; Dixit, P.Background: Nonadherence is linked to poor outcomes and impaired QOL. The objective is to find out the efficacy of medical adherence on quality of life among CAD Patients. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 130 cardiac patients, who were coming in OPD of various urban centres of Bhopal. Data collection was done from September to October 2022 using a purposive sampling framework. Medical adherence and quality of life were assessed using self-administered MAS-CAD and WHOQOL-BREF respectively.
