Abstract
Background: Workplace violence has been increasingly known as a problem in healthcare systems. Medical emergency technicians during work encounter workplace violence. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relation between encountering workplace violence and pre-hospital services presentation by Yasouj 115 technicians.
Methods: This study was descriptive and of correlation type and the statistical population of the study was constituted from all technicians of Yasouj 115 emergency who were 150. For sampling, Morgan table was used and 110 employees were selected with random method. The research instrument in this study is workplace violence and pre-hospital services presentation questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS software and statistical tests of correlation factor and multi-vitiate variance.
Results: The results showed that there is a significant relation between encountering workplace violence and pre-hospital services presentation by 115 technicians (p<0.05). Also, there is a significant relation between workplace violence and communicational skill, treatment actions, the number of missions and scene control creativity (p<0.05). There is a significant difference between encountering workplace violence and presenting pre-hospital services by 115 technicians based on sex and type of employment (p<0.05), but there is no significant difference between pre-hospital services presentation by 115 technicians and marital status and education (P>0.05).
Conclusion: Accuracy and speed in action, creativity in scene control for preventing from contention, appropriate relation with the patient and his attendants and wide missions for incident control are effective in reducing workplace violence.
