Abstract
In the last decades, the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) has
dramatically improved with the introduction into the clinical practice of the selective
serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). However, a large part of patients do not
respond to first-line drugs and different augmentation strategies have been proposed.
More recently, some non-pharmacological techniques have been proposed, but the
evidence of effectiveness is just preliminary. In this paper, the most recent works on
pharmacological and alternative treatments of OCD will be reviewed.
