Abstract
The results of Ishiguro Technique for the treatment of
mallet fractures of the distal phalanx were assessed in 31
consecutive patients. The indication for operation was a
displaced mallet finger fracture involving more than onethird
of the articular surface, with or without volar
subluxation of the distal phalanx and in those patients where
fracture reduction was not proper after application of mallet
finger splint. According to the Crawford’s rating system
there were 19 excellent, 7 good, 4 fair and one poor results.
We believe that this technique, when properly applied,
produces satisfactory results.
