Abstract
Cryptococcal meningitis is an emerging opportunistic
fungal infection among HIV infected patients and important
risk factors for the morbidity and mortality of these patients.
A total of 8 specimens of CSF out of 45 from known HIV
positive patients samples yielded Cryptococcus neoformans
during the period of one year. The prevalence of
cryptococcal meningitis among HIV seropositive patients
in this region is 17.78%.
