Abstract
Comparative epidemiological profile of malaria in Karen State Hospital was done covering 1982, 1983 & 1984. All the variables chosen for study are highly significant at 1 percent level i.e. p < 0.01. indicating that the pattern of malaria in in-patients in Karen State Hospital has changed over the past three years. There is a significant increases in mortality and morbidity of malaria and this study substantiates that there is malaria resurgence in Karen State. Although this is a hospital based study, the findings can be generalised to the state as a whole, as this is the only specialist hospital and receives admissions and referrals from throughout the state. Increase demand of malaria control service is evident and integration of anti-malaria activities in the general health services in essential.
