Item Fabricating a computer-aided design provisional with a customized access opening for root canal therapy.(2015-01) Young, NB; Cooper, JR; Pannu, DS; Callan, RSAs dentists, we strive to find ways to balance a patient’s wants and needs. Many times we are we are challenged to find ways to meet the patient’s expectations while simultaneously maintaining the standard of care for the patient. The purpose of this case study is to present an option for extended provisionalization of a tooth requiring retreatment of a previously root canal treated tooth. Using Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufactured (CAD/CAM) technology, we were able to fabricate a provisional with a custom lingual access for endodontic retreatment. We found that for this patient, the durability and esthetics of the provisional, and the ability to retreat the tooth without the repeated removal of the provisional presented a positive patient care outcome.Item Simplified method for Occlusal Plane orientation in fabrication of the complete dental prosthesis.(2013-07) Mohamed, A; Baker, PS; Pannu, DSThe objective of this letter is to present the fabrication and use of a device in combination with a commercially manufactured occlusal plane guide as an aid in determining occlusal plane orientation in complete dental prosthesis treatment.Item Stepwise technique for developing a successful Prosthodontic design for a Geriatric Mandibular Resection Patient.(2013-07) Londono, J; Baker, PS; Pannu, DSThis report describes the continued treatment of a geriatric patient with a mandibular lateral discontinuity defect and existing mandibular implantretained removable complete prosthesis opposing a maxillary complete denture. The purpose is to present a method of addressing patient concerns about existing esthetics and function using provisional restorations that permit gradual alterations to confirm operator and patient approval prior to fabrication of definitive prostheses. This technique allows the dentist to better accommodate the loss of dexterity, decreased adaptability, and other problems often complicating design of dental prostheses for aging patients.Item Technique for rebasing and tooth replacement of the implant retained fixed complete denture incorporating an existing metal framework.(2013-07) Nahlah, EA; Baker, PS; Pannu, DS; Londono, JThis article describes a simplified impression technique for replacement of acrylic resin denture base material and teeth for an implant retained fixed complete denture utilizing the existing metal framework. This method permits precise alignment of the impression and framework to implants and residual ridges, and simultaneously provides a cast and record for articulation of replacement teeth at the appropriate vertical dimension of occlusion.
