Item Factors Affecting Success in Knowledge Management of the Faculty of Nursing, Ratchathani University(Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, 2010-07-07) Chalongrut Intree; Boonchom Srisa-ard; Chaiyuth SirisuthAbstract: Keywords: Knowledge management, Mixed research methodologies, Knowledgemanagement center, Tacit knowledge, Explicit knowledge, Knowledge workerThe purpose of this research was to investigate factors affecting successin knowledge management for the faculty of Nursing, Ratchathani University andUdonthani campus. The study was conducted with mixed research methodologies,which were based on participatory research, research and development, quantitativeand qualitative research. The sample consisted of 53 administrator and nursingfaculty teaching staffs, Ratchathani University, Ubonratchathani Province and 47 ofthose of Udonthani Campus. They were divided into 7 groups. Five sets of theinstruments used for gathering data were scales on factors affecting success inknowledge management, an evaluative form on success in knowledge management,and a scale on satisfaction with knowledge management. The research results wereas follows: 1) for the results of using the developed knowledge management modelto try out in the Faculty of Nursing at the two campus for 8 months period byhaving knowledge management committees, and advisory committee, and 7knowledge management groups for knowledge management operation based on theknowledge management process which included classifying knowledge, buildingnew knowledge, sharing knowledge, implementing knowledge, disseminatingknowledge, building knowledge network, established of knowledge managementcenter and evaluating knowledge, the following were found; 2) a total of 285 titlesof the body of knowledge in work performing was obtained; 3) the administratorsand teaching staffs were satisfied with knowledge management as a whole at a highlevel; 4) success in knowledge management as a whole was evaluated to be at ahigh level; and they gave their opinions that the knowledge management model wasappropriate at a high level, and 5) the factors of success in culture of theadministrators and teaching staffs, and knowledge management strategies were theuse of well-trained knowledge workers, trust, synergy, and participation. For theworking principles, the researcher upheld the working principle of H.M. the KingBhumibol Adulyadej, including the systematic study of data, organizational culture,participation, honest, sincerity, and love-and-unity. Lastly, the researcher alsoupheld the principle of formative assessment while conducting this study.
