Peri-operative nurses are the team members who play a main role in nursing care the patients undergoing surgery physically and psychologically. The goals are to promote patientsû safety, prevent complications, and relieve pain in each stage of the procedure. The aim of this study is to present steps ofdeveloping clinical nursing practice guidelines, including collecting and analyzing relevant research studies, standard review, manual information, and documents, and then, gathering them to develop CNPGs of all stages of breast cancer surgery for peri-operative nurses. The content validity was conducted before being used with 11 women with breast cancer, who were undergone modified radical mastectomy andadmitted to Ramathibodi Hospital. The author and team used the CNPGs in preoperative visit (one day before surgery), intra-operative, immediate post-operative period in the recovery room and post-operative visit (one day after surgery) and thedata were recorded. Then, almost all of the patients reported their satisfaction with nursing care of peri-operative nurses in the high level. Also, the result showed neither complications of peri-operative nursing such as pain or numbness due to brachial nerve injury nor instruments left in surgical wounds. It is proposed that this CNPG should be useful for promoting care quality in breast cancer patients who undergo surgery.
