Item A Study of Holiday Time Behavior of the Deaf Living in Bangkok(Journal of Ratchasuda College for Research and Development of Persons with Disabilities, 2011-02-05) Jitprapa Sri-On; Janejira TedtimThe objective of ‘A Study of Holiday Time Behavior of the Deaf Living in Bangkok’ is to study the life style of the deaf living in Bangkok and how they spend their leisure on holiday whether it is similar or dissimilar to that of the general public. The sample population is the deaf living in Bangkok, without limitations of age or sex, totaling 119. Interview and behavior observation forms are used for data collection. The research found that the deaf living in Bangkok Metropolitan have one or two holidays per week. Their activities on those days include personal work, house work, study, employment work, social and religious activities and leisure. About 68.9 percent of the deaf prefer leisure, both at home and outside. The activities being engaged at home are respectively: watching T.V, talking, reading newspaper and a variety of books, hobbies, sitting or lying in repose, video watching, games, socializing, exercising and watching sport. As for the activities being engaged outside of home, the following are in order of preference: window shopping at department stores, meeting with friends, playing sports, watching movies, visiting relatives, eating food and dancing. The majority, 77.8 percent, of the deaf, regardless of sex, age or marital status, meet with friends on holidays.
